National Precision Engineering Specialist Programme

 The Precision Engineering (PE) industry is a key pillar in the Singapore economy. It is the backbone serving the breadth of manufacturing – supporting key industries such as medical technology, semiconductor equipment and aerospace.
As Singapore establishes herself as a centre of excellence for PE, we will require a highly skilled and versatile workforce to meet the challenges of tomorrow - people who can innovate and turn ideas into reality.
To achieve this, the Singapore Government has launched a $76 million PE Manpower Initiative to train and upgrade 2000 professionals in the PE workforce over the next 5 years.

The National Precision Engineering (PE) Specialist Programme
A structured in-employment upgrading programme jointly developed by the Government and industry to provide training and career enhancement opportunities for engineering candidates in employment through one of the following upgrading routes:
- NPES 1 (2-year programme) : Part-time PE WSQ Diploma/Specialist Diploma offered by Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic
- NPES 2 (3-year programme) : Part-time Polytechnic Diploma in PE offered by Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic
- NPES 3 (Combination of NPES 1 and NPES 2) : Part-time PE WSQ Diploma and Polytechnic Diploma in PE offered by Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic
In recognition of their growing PE capability, trainees will receive the following:
- Regular salaries
- Training allowances up to S$20,000
- Full sponsorship for upgrading courses
