3C Framework of Assistance:

1. Competency includes initiatives to help companies develop the set of capabilities so as to be able to successfully sell their products and services across a wide range of markets. IE Singapore believes in helping Singapore-based companies strengthen their core competencies and align their capabilities to international standards to be successful overseas. Competencies include areas of branding, design, manpower, distribution, intellectual property and financial management.
   
   
2. Connections include linking our business persons within Singapore; linking our business persons in overseas markets; and linking our Singapore networks to overseas networks. IE Singapore has put in place a variety of networks and platforms which Singapore-based companies can tap on for business matching and information sharing. These include online business matching portals such as International Business Opportunities (IBO), and Network China, Network India and Network Indonesia, which are premier networking platforms to bolster business linkages between companies from Singapore and China, India and Indonesia.
   
   
3. Capital includes enabling companies to explore international financing options and build up their financial management capabilities for internationalisation. IE Singapore has launched several capital enabling programmes to generate awareness of the various financing options available and equip Singapore-based companies with the right financial management skills for globalisation.
   

Attracting foreign SMEs to base in Singapore:

Another of IE Singapore's thrusts is to attract foreign SMEs to base in Singapore, and to expand overseas in partnership with Singapore-based companies. Essentially, by setting up operations in Singapore, foreign SMEs help to create employment and bring in business and investment, as well as technology and know-how to Singapore. By adding diversity to our pool of local SMEs, they help to strengthen our local industries and generate economic value. When foreign SMEs and local SMEs partner to internationalise, their chances of success are much greater because of their complementary skill-sets.
